Testing technology

The RMI testing technology departement is responsible for the testing, assessment and development of products and systems for façades, protective coatings, thermal insulation, acoustics and for plasters and mortars. The core competences of testing technology are physical and mechanical tests as well as conditioning and climatic stresses. Furthermore, tests are adapted to the application field of the product taking into account the corresponding test standard.

The RMI testing technology is accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 for the following tests:

• Measurement of bond strength by pull-off [DIN EN 1542]

• Determination of tensile strength perpendicular to faces [DIN EN 1607]

• Determination of the tensile bond strength of the adhesive and of the base coat to the thermal insulation material [DIN EN 13494]

• Determination of the tensile bond strength of thermal insulation component system [ETAG 004]

• Determination of the mechanical properties of glass fibre meshes [DIN EN 13496, ETAG 004]

• Determination of short term water absorption by partial immersion [DIN EN 1609]

Application technology

The RMI application technology department is concerned with evaluating the technical application of thermal insulation component- and acoustic systems. In these evaluations, parameters such as degree of dilution, substrates, environmental influences and weatherconditions are tested. Comparative and blind tests are also carried out to enable an objective assessment. All tests include detailed documentation. An assessment of the results can also be prepared on request.

For the entire scope of tasks, testing and application technology works very closely with the other departements of RMI.
